-AN INDIAN GOVERNMENT PROGRAMME
PIONEERED BY
FORMER INDIAN PRIME MINISTER
ATAL BIHARI VAJPAYEE
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan has been operational since 2000-2001 to
provide for a variety of social category gap in elementary education and
improving the quality of learning. It includes opening of new schools and
alternate schooling facilities, construction of schools and additional
classrooms, toilets and drinking water, provisioning for teachers, regular
teacher in service training and academic resource support, free textbooks and
uniforms and support for improving learning achievement levels.
It focus on elementary education of satisfaction and provides
clear vision on importance of education. Education is very important tool for
everyone to succeed in life and get something different. It helps a lot in
lessening the challenges of life. Knowledge gained throughout the education
period enables each and every individual confident about their life. It opens
various doors to the opportunities of achieving better prospects in life so
promotes career growth.
Many awareness programmes has been run by the government in
enhance the value of education in rural areas. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is one of
them. It brings feeling of equality among all people in the society and
promotes growth and development of the country.
SSA has made a concerned effort to promote the inclusion of
children with special needs, the system faces challenges in identifying these
children and responding to their needs.
It is umbrella programme for all education schemes, which
aims to universalize elementary education, the goal are that all children
aged 06-14 including the enrolment of
children with disabilities.
Lack of education can have serious effects on children and
adults and can affects health, living conditions and social situations. Many
issues arise in a community due to a lack of education. Situation like teen
pregnancy, gang violence, theft, drug use and other crimes happen more
frequently in noneducated settings. This is also partly due to the fact that
these areas are poverty stricken because a lack of education decreases the jobs
that people can get. Just having basic skills such as reading and math can help
a person with employment.
Seeing an recent event happened in our college land near boys
hostel. A person which is uneducated, failed to predict that if he makes a fire
in grazing land than fire spread all over the land. And a heavy cost he has to
pay if it is not control in time. Such type of lack of education leads to
dangerous to him (person) as well as the surrounding people. Many more tragic
events are happened in our surrounding.
We discus one more tragic event happened in Alirajpur(MP)
last year.
An illetrate mother puts fevi-quick into her children’s eye
instead of eye drop recommend by doctor. She has three childrens. She has to
pay huge amount by weakening of eye sight of all the childrens. This all are
happening in india due to uneducation / illiteracy.
Basic aim of SSA – useful and relevant education signifies a
quest for an education system that is not alienating and that draws on
community solidarity. Its aim is to children learn about and master their
natural environment in a manner that allows the fullest harnessing of their
human potential both spiritually and materially. This quest must also be a
process of value based learning that allows children an opportunity to work for each other’s well being rather than to permit
mere selfish persuit.
Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan realizes the importance of early
childhood Care and education and looks at the 0-14 age as a continuum. The biggest challenge thus far has been to set up enough
infrastructures across the country. Being a pan India activity of its own kind,
the problems have been numerous. But ultimately things appear to improve and
settle down year by year. In order to progress, there are very useful measures:
One is the education development index (EDI) provides useful insight into how
things have been progressing in different states.
The government’s flagship program Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA)
has done this miracle. In 10 years, SSA has achieved following:
Out of School children number has been brought down
significantly (8 million in 2009, 3 million in 2012).
- Big boost to additional schools -195,000 Primary and more than 100,000 Upper Primary schools sanctioned.
