SMART CITIES MISSION
The Government of India has launch smart cities mission as a step to develop 109 cities as a sustainable and economical and commercial friendly. The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi has launched this mission with the approval of the Indian Cabinet in June 2015. A total of Rs.50,000 crore has been funded by the government for this righteous mission as a step forward for bright and smart India.
For this worthy mission, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched various government policies and approaches such as Aawas Yojana, Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Swach Bharat Abhiyan etc.
A Few Goals Assigned For This Mission
vAdequate water supply,
vAssured Electricity supply,
vSanitation, including Solid Waste Management (Swach Bharat Abhiyan)
vEfficient Urban Mobility and Public transport (AMRUT)
vAffordable Housing, especially for the poor (Awaas Yojana Mission)
vRobust IT Connectivity and Digitalization,
vGood Governance, especially                        e-Governance and Citizen Participation,
vSustainable Environment ,
vSafety and Security of Citizens, particularly Women, Children and the Elderly, and
vHealth and Education
Smart is the main focus of the new Modi government that is gaining its popularity with the greater advancement in technological field. Few policies like Make in India and Digital India are making use of these technologies which are being accepted by the general citizens of the country.
As an effort to make India Digital, Government of India have made a few approaches like giving free Wi-Fi facility at various places like Railway Stations, Bus Stands, Bus Stops, Air Ports and Government Offices.
As a step towards completing the goal of Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, a private sector company named as Reliance corporation introduced Reliance Jio 4G network all over India free of cost. This approach led common people to Digitalization which improved their knowledge of the new technologies and advancements.

Smart Cities Mission Strategy
i.        They were developing areas step by step according to three models of area-based developments-
·      Retrofitting
·      Redevelopment
·      Greenfield
ii.        They were also using Pan-city initiative in which at least one smart solution is applied city-wide.
The Mission will cover 109 cities and its duration will be five years. The mission may be continued thereafter in the light of an evaluation to be done by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and incorporating the learnings into the mission.
Apart from making the country more developed, the Smart City Mission is also making space for the employment and helping its way on making the country unemployment-free. For example, it’s necessary for smart city to look better and sanitary and to achieve that we need good civil engineers, contractors, builders, workers and for sanitary Municipal Corporation needs more men to fill the requirement, thus, eradicating unemployment.
Implementation
The cities selected have started project preparations and implementations-
    I.        The Projects launched by Ahmedabad are “Sewage Treatment Plant, Housing Project and Smart Learning in Municipal Schools”
II.        Bhuveneshwar launched “Railway multi-model Hub, Traffic Signalization Project and Urban Knowledge Center”.
III.        New Delhi Municipal Council launched “Mini-sewage Treatment Plants, 444 Smart Classrooms, Wi-Fi, Smart LED Street Lights, City Surveillance, Command and Control Center”.
IV.        Launch of Smart City Project in INDORE.
Smart City: INDORE
The Government of Madhya Pradesh with the support of Central government as initiated the smart city project of Indore on 3rd October 2015.As to make Indore smart the head of the Municipal Corporation accepted the three area based system of developing smart city. The basic module of the project is to develop the small areas such as Rajwada and its surroundings first, and then they proceed the same process to other places in Indore.

For the sanitation of the city, they launched an Android/iOS/windows app ‘Swachchh Indore’. The main feature of this app is if one finds any garbage around the city Indore he/she may take a photo of the garbage and post it to the App. Under 24 hrs he/she would find the area clean.
