Clean India - Just a Movement or Changing Attitudes of People

Clean India Movement-one step towards cleanliness, is one of the rising issue in the country. It was the dream of Mahatma Gandhi to keep our country clean and healthy. Many ministers have raised their voice about this issue around past years. Then, our leading Prime Minister Narendra Modi have initiated about this issue. He organized this mission which was started at 2 October 2014, 145th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat New Delhi. At that day many celebrities including PM having broom in their hands cleans the road. The aim of this mission is to achieve a defecation free India by 2 October 2019. For this govt. has been constructed around 1.25 Crore toilets in the rural area.

However, this mission is being succeeding as much hardly. According to the estimation 65% people of India have mobile phones and 40% people have toilets at their home. So, this is the attitude of the people. Obvious, it is not a movement it should be the changing attitudes of people. Public only want to see India clean, but they don't indulge in cleaning. So, the attitude of making a move for cleaning India should be there.

For this the government should have to launch a mass awareness to change the mentality of the citizens. People should know the value of participation towards cleanliness and the treat occurs due to its lack. Spit where they want, their habit will not be changed unless they become aware. We see that people keep their home clean but when it comes to their surroundings, they thought it to be the duty of government and workers indulging cleaning jobs.
-->              But also the thing is that we cannot wait for changing mentalities and mentalities as a burden of health diseases on the economy due to the lack of cleanliness. It requires some rules and regulations to get people on the track. For changing the population of 125 crore population of the country, first we have to change ourselves, so that through our mentality others will also get motivated. We can say that the movement would bring great results with the help of positive attitude of the citizens. -->             For the improvement of this movement, government organized a Swachh Bharat cess for the improvement in the service tax by.5% on all the services in India. It was started by the Finance Ministry to collect some fund from each and every Indian citizen for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in order to make it a successful campaign. Everyone has to pay extra 50 paise for each 100 rupees as service tax for this cleanliness campaign.
The scheme is done under two ministries
*Ministry of urban development - to implement in urban areas
*Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation - to implement in rural areas.

Rural Sanitation Coverage Status- 169.78 Lakh toilets are constructed since 2 October 2014.
 9.36% increase in HHs coverage.
ï¶  53735 ODF villages declared.
 34.66 photographs uploaded(in Lakhs)

So, we can conclude that -Making people aware is important, but more important is that this awareness is converted to actions. As govt. itself has taken the initiative, this will definitely motivate people and make them realize that cleanliness is not just govt's responsibility. On its part govt can introduce a separate awareness drive too, so that more and more people join this campaign. Ultimately, these efforts will not force people to change their attitude of "nothing will change" but also ensures their participation too.
So, people should take care of following things-
1) Elimination of open defecation.
2) Removal of human waste from unsanitary toilets.
3) Modern and Scientific municipal solid waste management
4) Behavioral change on healthy sanitation.
5) Generate awareness about cleanliness and sanitation and link with public health.
6) Capacity augmentation for urban local bodies private sector in capex and opex.
